Let's Talk About Receptacles

Trash receptacles may not be the first thing that leaps to mind when you're considering additions to your home, office or landscape design. But just the same, you don't want the look you've worked so hard to achieve ruined by a tacky looking trash receptacles and waste paper bins. Let Accent Architecturals solve your design dilemma with receptacles that are so beautiful you'll be ashamed to throw your refuse in them.

Doric Trash and Ash Receptacles take care of two problems at once. The sleek column design of these lightweight stone receptacles is very attractive and comes in Natural or Mossy finish. The recessed top can be filled with sand and used to stub out cigarettes while the inner area holds your refuse. If you prefer you can use the top area to hold a charming bowl with Siamese Fighting Fish displaying their beautiful colors or a nice potted plant instead of using it for an ashtray.

Another addition that will do double duty of holding refuse while looking great is the Infinity Receptacles. These are bold pieces of architecture that add a lot of interest to your space. In addition they make a wonderful conversation piece and a great addition to any decor. Basically rectangular in shape these receptacles are decorated with geometric designs. They are made of cast stone for great durability and come in Antique Green or Antique White finishes to meld seamlessly into any design scheme.

A trash bin doesn't have to look plain. You can get a classically designed piece that will not only hold refuse of visitors, it will also look stylish while it does it.

Decorating With Flair

It's easy to get the look you want in your rooms without spending an arm and a leg - the secret is to add a little flair throughout the year and you can put together a designer touched room that you can truly enjoy.

You main expense will have been adding your larger pieces in your room such as your sofa, love seat and entertainment center. Make sure they are neutral colors and you can get years of use out of them by just adding or changing various accents around them. A light beige sofa for example will meld exquisitely into a showpiece when paired with boldly colored pillows and placed in front of an area rug that has the same bold coloring.

Another way to add good accents in a room is through your lighting choices. It's very simple to set the mood of an entire room through lighting. If you want a vibrant, party atmosphere make your lighting bright. If you want a more cozy feel to your room, soften the lights. For the most romantic room you've ever been in - candlelight.

Window treatments are another change you can make. Heavy dark fabrics can make a room seem smaller, light fabrics will help open up a room. Depending on the "feel" you want for your space - choose your fabrics accordingly. Another option to open up a room is the clever use of mirrors. Use them on opposing walls to further open up a small space.

Small artworks placed in groups on walls, groups of favorite holiday and vacation photos or a newly acquired small sculpture placed on a console table by a plant will all give your room pizzazz. Use these tips to give your room a designer touch without paying the high fees of a designer!

If you want to understand what we're talking about just take a look at a few of her creations.

Few bird houses are as wonderfully designed as Jane's Natures retreat Birdello. Jane has used salvaged wood, covered it with old pieces of metal flashing and added some iron scrolled leaves to create a very beautiful home for your feathered friends. Then a picture frame is added around the hole, and an old door latch becomes birdie's new perch. The real fun of this piece comes from the daringly impish elf figure mounted on top and flanked by finials. This is a piece that will add a delightful air of whimsy to your yard space.

Start Thinking of Spring Additions to Your Garden

Even though winter is just gearing up in many locations around the country, it's never to late to start planning your garden for 2007. If you don't already have one, a garden trellis can add a great deal of charm to your outdoor space. You can use a trellis or even more than one to help define one area from the next or to create private spaces within the garden setting. Train climbing roses and ivy up your trellises or hang individual baskets from the grates. Whatever you do, your trellises are bound to add beauty and architectural interest to your landscape design.

If you want to make your garden space a real impact piece, consider adding a perspective trellis. This type of trellis is made to mount to walls and give the look of depth. They do good work for splitting up one area and making another into a separate point in your garden. They are idea if you want to set up a cozy gathering nook in your garden for spring and summer gatherings and have a separate area where you have your own spot to garden and relax when no one is visiting. There are a number of choices such as the Venetian Perspective trellises or perhaps a Double Roman Arch perspective set for a dramatic affect.

Classic, lattice trellises are the type most people are accustomed to seeing in garden areas. If you prefer a simpler garden accent, perhaps add a simply designed Arched Lattice Panel trellises. This is a lovely and basic piece that won't overpower a small garden area while doing the work of a larger trellis and training the greenery of your choice to grow up the lattices and creating a lovely piece for your garden all the same.

Who says a trellis has to be made of wood? If your taste runs more to the eclectic why not check out the wrought iron sculpted trellis designs? The Scroll Leaf Trellises are made to replicate the running, twisting vines such as ivy or roses that will be climbing the rungs when used in your garden area. As you can see trellises offer beauty and versatility to your outdoor areas. It's just a matter of deciding the style you want to project in your garden area and you'll have a lot of choices!
