A Unique Home Decor
Sometimes when you are ready to make some changes to your home decor, you look at the books, magazines, websites and more; yet you just can't find anything you like. You don't want your room to be defined as Shabby Chic or Art Deco, you want something uniquely "you".
That's one of the easiest decorating jobs in the world to do. Your basic colors will depend on your room size. If you have a smallish room that doesn't have a lot of windows - opt for the light colors of the spectrum no matter what grouping you go with because light colors tend to open up a room. If you're room is large - you can go with darker shades without making the room feel claustrophobic.
Then, simply decide on the 3 basic colors you like and start applying them to your room. You can have your soft one color and have pillows in the other two colors. Make your window treatments and have the pattern in the fabric for your curtains reflect your three color choices. That will bring your colors from your furnishings to your walls and then you can further make the room flow by adding an area rug that also has at least two of the colors you're working with in your room.
You don't have to completely throw away things that don't match. Paint items where you can such as frames, lamp bases, and tables to match your new room colors. You can also make fun and elegant additions to your home decor with
medallions that are made from resin that can be used on the ceilings (also affectionately called the "5th wall") or embedded into your walls. The resin allows the medallions to be painted the same or a contrasting color to ensure they blend perfectly.
Using this method you can easily transform your boring old room into a showplace that is uniquely "you".

Home Decor Shopping
One of the hottest online trends is buying your home decor items online. The reason is simple -the choices.
When you shop in a local store, you're at the mercy of what the local buyer for the store's district thought would be a big seller. If you really wanted a
wrought iron bakers rack for your kitchen in distressed white and the regional buyer in your area didn't think that item would sell; your local home decor store simply won't carry it.
The beautiful thing about shopping online for your home is you can do it whenever you like twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. The choices are also infinite. Every item the manufacturer of particular items creates will usually be available instead of the items that sell best in your demographic region. This will allow you to shop and appease your individual tastes or find something unique no one else in your area has.
The ease of shopping online can't be beat. No getting dressed and fighting traffic; then hunting for a parking space somewhat close to the front door of the home decor store - you just log online and then point your mouse and click. When you're done shopping, you simply click the shopping cart - verify every item you wanted is in there and then click checkout. Input your credit card information and that is handled via a secure server and you're done. No hassle and no fuss.
Shop online for your next home decor addition, large or small. The choices and simplicity of ordering will let you understand why the number of people who shop online for home decor products is growing by the millions every year.

Home Decor Accessories - Little Things Mean a Lot
Adding a touch here and there as you go is a great way to put a room together without emptying your bank account. There are two main places in a room that tend to get neglected and one is the infamous "5th wall" that would be your ceiling and the other is your fireplace area.
Your Ceiling
It doesn't have to be plain white or eggshell. There are a lot of interesting things you can do to your ceiling area and around it. If you want to create a cozy atmosphere in a room, consider adding beautiful decorative
ceiling tiles. These tiles are made from tin and are stamped with a repeating pattern that is easy to match up. All you do is attach thin strips of plywood to your ceiling and nail your ceiling tiles in place. It takes very little time to do and looks outstanding. Another way to make a room look more elegant is to add molding to the area where the ceiling meets the wall around the room.
Your Fireplace
Few areas cause as much trouble as fireplaces. What do you do with it? It's a brick hole in your room. You can put a few touches across the mantle but what else? Plenty! Get a new mantle to breathe new life into a room. They come in every texture from glossy enamel to stone look and they fit right over your existing fireplace area. You can also add other touches around your fireplace like a new screen made out of decorative tin. They come with cut outs or solid pieces. Either way, it will rev up your decor.
Adding other touches such as using corner space with a small corner table and adding plants here and there are other great ways to use up your space and get maximum decorating value. Use these tips and make your house more of a home this weekend!

Home Decor Fast Change
If you want to make some changes to a room but you don't have the patience to spend a good deal of time working on a room, a good option for you would be a fast change to your decor.
This involves no painting and very few additions to your room. It does involve getting organized and adding an item or two that will help pull your whole room together.
Get a Clean Canvas to Decorate With
First of all, clean the room of clutter. If you have papers, magazines or other periodicals laying on tables and other areas; do one of two things with them: put them in an attractive wicker basket that is on the other side of a large piece of furniture away from the entrance door so it won't even be seen unless someone goes to the back of the room. Your other option is to toss them in the recycle bin and only keep this month's current issues out on a coffee table. If you have small items scattered on every table in your room, gather them up and gently put them in a box for now. Start with as many plain surfaces as you can. Take the throw pillows off your sofa and chairs.
Get to It
Now look around your room. Experiment with moving your major pieces of furniture to new areas and see if you can get a new feel for your room. Make one corner of your room a cozy conversation nook and then use the space you have made for a small entertainment section complete with
bar and glasses. It's all just a matter of how you use your space. Don't throw those old pillows away - simply recover them in a new fabric. Adding an area rug is a great way to tie in many colors in one room. Hanging new curtains in colors that match your throw pillows or area rug will further tie in with the look of your new decor.
Final Touches
In the corners, add corner tables and either silk or living plants. Both add a polishing touch to any room. Make your photographs works of art worth showing by matting and putting them in plain black frames. Uniformity in your frames that are displayed closely will help your room have a more pulled together look.
And those are just the basics. You can transform any room in your home by just doing a few little things and wind up with a whole new home decor before you know it!

Getting the Country Look for Your Home Decor
If you love the cozy, comfy feel of the country look, it's easy to get for your home. The two rooms most people go for a country look are either the kitchen or the living room.
Country Look Items for the Living Room
You can "countrify" a living room easily without changing out a lot of your main items. Instead of switching out your sofa, try a slip cover with a small floral print or a gingham check. If you're real ambitious you can reupholster your pieces with fabric. Stick to an easy country motif - flowers, leaves, earthy colors. For your lighting in your room, ditch the standing modern-look lamps. Go for a table lamp that has a country charm such as a
candlestick lamp or a globe lamp with flowers etched in the glass. Hurricane lamps with colored oils work well too.
Keep your tables simple. Long slender legs and small tops. Handmade doilies with small pictures in ornate frames or little statues of roosters will make a great addition to a country themed room. For your window treatments, think simple. You don't need anything elaborate in a country room. It's all about simple style which is one reason this type of decor is so easy for most people to do.
A Country Kitchen
One of the best pieces you can add for a country kitchen look is a farmhouse type dining table. Normally one side has chairs and the other side has a bench. Add a simple runner tablecloth. A country cupboard doing duty holding your plates and dishtowels is another great addition. Pot racks are fun additions and they free up precious cabinet space while looking excellent. You can either hang a potrack on the wall or from the ceiling-your choice. Many people have a roosters, geese or cows on items in the kitchens and this lends a charming feel to any kitchen.
Going country is easier than you think - now that you know the basics, add a little country charm to your decor.
