Add Romance to Your Room

With just a few accents added around your room, you can make your décor scream romance.

A great start is with an Erb Park Valance. This is mounted over your draperies and creates a dramatic air in any room. It brings softness to any décor and will be a nice romantic touch no matter what your room theme is; even starkest of interiors will be softened by the warm touch of a valance.

Mirrors can serve double duty in your décor. They are very useful items for bring the illusion of more space to a room as well as an air of romance when there are set in a scalloped and filigreed frame such as the Belle Rosa Tin Mirror, which has been aged to give an old world charm.

Italian folklore says if you are single to hang grape leafs around your home, you're true love will make their self known to you. Another item that will add an air of romance to your home is the Grapevine Iron Shelf Bracket. This adorable scroll worked shelf bracket will add a little flair to a plain old wooden shelf.

Nothing says romance in the boudoir like a Victorian style bed. Arrange your sleeping quarters to be the romantic room you always wanted. Start with a Victorian Bed, add white flowing sheets, and over the four posters, drape sheer, dreamy gauze in off-white for a fully flowing look in your bedroom.

Small and simple additions and changes to just one or two pieces in a room can change the mood of the entire room from austere to playful to very romantic. Now that you know how easy it is, go for a summer romance feeling in your décor!

Go Baroque!

Baroque is a design style that is bright, elaborate and grand. This is an interior décor look that is not for the shy. Baroque in the literal definition means irregular or contorted. This style originated in Italy around the 1600's and the popularity of this style of décor has not diminished and is still in use in present day homes and architectural designs.

A Baroque piece or two will add a great accent to an otherwise drab room or make yourself an entire Baroque nook. Twisted columns, large, irregular curves, elaborate scrolls, oversize moldings, and inlaid wood floor designs characterize the Baroque style. Think theater, domes and Italian architecture of the 1600's.

Fragments are great to add a spark to any room. These fragments are made from casts of demolished buildings and then cast in lightweight resin to give the look and feel of stone but none of the weight. The best thing about resin is that it can be painted over in the same or a contrasting color to make your décor uniquely you.

A Baroque Medallion will add an extraordinary touch of sophistication and glamour to your room. It is a real showpiece all its own and when made part of an elaborate art display, will become the centerpiece on any wall space. If you have a smaller room that you would like to add depth and space to, use the age old decorating trick of adding mirrors on the farthest end of the room which will give the illusion of more length in the room to anyone entering. A Baroque Full Length Mirror or two placed on the wall farthest away from the entrance to the room will bring this illusion to life and with a beautiful frame surrounding the mirror as well.

If you're looking to add excitement to your room, go for the high style of Baroque.

Items to Make Your Décor French Country

If you're tired of the same old room and you want to update the look of your room, one of the easiest décor styles to change to, from almost any style, including the "early marriage" style, is French Country.

French Country is a cozy and romantic style that just brings coziness to a room. Add a French Country Table to your room. This solid wood masterpiece is a throwback to the sturdily made furniture from the French countryside. There is light woodwork on each side to add a charming accent. This piece pairs fantastically with the French Country Bench and Chair for a complete look.

Another single item you can add to bring the warmth of a French Country décor to your room is the simple addition of a French Country style rocking chair. This rocker is solid wood with classically carved Victorianesque details that bring a flavor of romance to the entire piece. Pair with a pillow in off-white or rust and you can have a truly French Country piece. A French Country Pedestal is great for adding a live plant or a favorite figuring to set off your décor.

If you are antsy about making furniture changes, start small with the simple addition of a French Country style clock. Another fun look is the French Key Maker Clock that is made to give the image that it is straight out of the past from the shop of a key maker in the French Countryside from long ago. The clocks have an aged look and come in beautiful tones to bring softness to any décor along with keeping excellent time!

Classically Colonial

Colonial styles are classically all American interiors. There are many elements that make up the Colonial and Colonial Revival styles. Think 1800's, made with function and clean lines and you have the basics for a good Colonial design.

Symmetry is important in Colonial designs and balance in the décor is what is desired. Most items are in pairs and spaced equally. This brings a warm coziness to the room.

Common Colonial additions for your décor will come in the form of a pair of columns placed around a doorway or on each side of a window for a dramatic effect, pediments, and lighting used on the side of doorways or spaced evenly down a hallway or foyer. Another common element used in Colonial interior design are cornices around the ceiling areas in various rooms. They are especially useful for making high ceilings seem a little lower and bring coziness to your room. Common colors used in Colonial decors are direct from nature and come in the forms of spring and forest greens, black, white, and sky blues. Pineapples, the ultimate sign of "Welcome", are also found adorned on objects commonly placed around Colonial style decors.

You can extend your cozy Colonial feel outside of your home with the use of a Colonial Townhouse Bird Residence that is the ultimate townhouse for your feathered friends and done complete in a classically Colonial style.

If you aren't ready to make a full leap into the Colonial style, start by adding a few small pieces. A small pair of columns, run a cornice board over a small area or add Colonial style stair brackets - all will impart the simple elegance of a décor that is classically Colonial.

Accent on Items for an Art Deco or Art Modern Look

Art Deco is a classy yet fun style for any room. It first appeared around the 1890's and was the rage during the Roaring 1920's and is marked by the stylized forms and silhouettes and the use of geometric designs and bright colors are often found in Art Deco decors. By the 1940's the style of Art Deco had evolved into the still popular Art Moderne, which added curved cornered furnishings and opaque, glass block windows also became an inherent part of this décor look.

If you want to break up a too large room or add an interesting accent, go for panels! Art Deco Panels can be sold individually or as a three piece set. These panels look heavy but they are actually cast in lightweight resin so they can be placed on any wall without fear of damage from a too heavy piece.

A Pressed Tin Backsplash makes a fabulous accent item for the kitchen area. The 12-inch style will bring a low-key taste of art deco to your room. Add a Deco Tin and Wood Shelf makes an outstanding addition to any room with its fun design as the tin in the shelf will blend nicely when used in conjunction with a tin backsplash.

Last but not least, add an air of Art Deco drama with a collection of Paris 1860 6 Pane Art Windows. They are reverse printed glass panels that are mounted in old-style multi-pane window frames. This piece is a real conversation starter.

It's easy to bring the Art Deco or Modern look into your home with just a few carefully added accents!
