Decorating A Room with Large Walls
Making a small room seem larger is a well-known and often used decorating trick. A less used but much needed skill when decorating your room is the ability to make a large wall with high ceilings seem cozy without making the room seem closed in or substantially smaller.
Putting up a large impact piece is one way to break up the monotony a large wall can sometimes bring to a room. The Gothic Medallion is a beautiful shield that will give your room an elegant feel. Another great addition for a large wall space is the Architectural Logo Grille that is a creation in wrought iron and treated with a rust look to give your piece and aged appearance. They look great as a single hanging to break up a wall or as a grouping to make a real impact on the design of your room.
A Large Round Fleur de Lis Grille will make a real impact on your wall and they look like old world sculptures but they are in fact, made from the actual designs from demolished classically styled buildings and cast in lightweight resin that takes to paint readily. They look absolutely fabulous when you imbed them into your walls and then paint to match- your wall will have a sculpted appearance. Using groupings of grilles is a great way to break up a boring, plain wall. Using grilles near the ceiling area will give the illusion of bringing high ceilings a little lower and leaving a feeling of overall coziness to your room.

Accent on Decorating Your Kitchen for Prime Storage
You can have a kitchen that is fully functional and you can even play up a small kitchen to seem larger than it is, if you plan your storage right.
No matter how many cabinets you have in your kitchen, it never seems to be enough. A good solution to freeing up your cabinet space is to transfer your pots and pans from the cabinets to a storage rack.
Most often, pot racks are placed over kitchen islands or peninsulas. If you have taller ceilings, pot racks look great over a sink or prep area. Another great form of pot storage is in the form of a Wall Pot Rack. They look terrific placed between cabinets or just below a cabinet to make use of previously bare wall space.
Another way to make a small kitchen appear bigger and create more storage space is to use stand up cabinets and baker's racks. The open wire design of a baker's rack creates clean lines and can hold cooking items; there are hooks for pots and pans on most styles and wire shelving underneath for additional storage. If you really love a "less is more" type of decorating style, a stand up cabinet is for you. Everything you need to store can be neatly stacked and put away and then just shut the doors and you have a clean, unassuming piece in your kitchen area.
No matter what size your kitchen is, you can make the most of your space and have more storage with the right choices in furnishings for your individual kitchen decor.

Summer Gathering Under a Gazebo
Make your next summer gathering with your family and friends around your gazebo. A gazebo is the perfect place in your garden or backyard to make as a focal point for friendly get-togethers.
Enjoy a cookout, music and more. The Classic Pavilion Gazebo is easy to assemble and one fun way to decorate your gazebo is to use small lights like might be used to decorate a Christmas tree. You can make your gazebo look fun and festive at night.
The Column and Dome Gazebo cuts a classic and striking figure in any yard area. This eye-catcher is wrought iron scroll worked dome over 4 strong columns. This gazebo comes in four different sizes from small to extra-large and will give you years upon years of service hosting backyard gatherings.
The Scrolled Column and Beam gazebo is a beautiful addition to a garden area and if you entertain frequently in the warmer months, you can't go wrong with a Small Pavilion Gazebo with seating. Add in some citronella candles at the four corners of the gazebo to keep the pesky mosquitoes away, a hot grill with some surf and turf cooking and you have the makings of a great time for yourself and your friends.
Some couples use gazebos as a place to say their vows in front of their family and friends when they get married, later the same gazebo can be placed in their garden and serve as a romantic reminder of their special day for years to come.

Make Your Fireplace a Focal Point (Even in the Summer!)
Your fireplace can be the gathering point and highlight of your room, even in the warmer summer months if you play your space up right. In the winter your fireplace should project warmth, in the warmer months, creative uses of fireplace screens or the use of candles will help your fireplace project an aura of coziness and light.
Update the look of your fireplace with the use of a Distressed Black Mantel for a striking update to your room. Use of a fireplace screen will make the area more of a "wall space" and you can put white candles in front of your fireplace to give your room a soft glow.
Other ways to update the look of your fireplace are to incorporate architectural mantels that have a combination of wood and wrought iron scrollwork. They can be easily stained to compliment your décor. If you don't want to put up a full three-quarters fireplace screen, you can use the simple elegance of a Hampton Mantel which merely goes across the top and about 12-inches down each side. For less siding on a mantelshelf, the Maxwell mantel is even more petite and cut a low-key addition to your fireplace area.
Small, flat fire screens such as the tin-made Medallion Fire Screen and the Tin Panel Fire Screens will block your fireplace off for the warmer months and you can put plants, creatively displayed candles or small sculptures in front of the fireplace for a completely polished look.
Your fireplace can still be the focal gathering point in your room, just update your look by the season and you'll always have a welcoming and cozy décor around your fireplace area.

Accent on Great Gifts for Father's Day
Father's Day is almost here and if you don't want to get dear old Dad the same old tie, the same old cologne or the same old lunch in the same old restaurant for a Father's Day gift, try giving him something that will make him think of you all year round with a thoughtful gift from Accent Architecturals.
If Dad likes to window watch, give him something fun to watch in the form of a Birdello birdhouse. They are handcrafted out of wood and come in whimsical designs like the Elfin Magic Birdello that is a great little birdhouse with a watchful elf on the top. Another fun design is the Monkey Business Birdello is made to resemble an old organ grinder's box and has various monkey motifs all around.
Another great gift idea for Dad is to give him his very own unique space. An Instrument Desk is made to replicate an old optometrist's table. The cast iron legs with a wood top will ensure this table gives many years of service. If your father is very tall or very short, there is a crank for raising or lowering the table to reach the perfect height. This desk takes up very little space and will be a perfect place for Dad to read, pay bills, or finally write that novel he's always been talking about.
If you are looking for a truly different Father's Day gift that will show your Dad how truly special and unique he is to you, give him a gift he will appreciate and use all year round with one of the fabulous gift choices here at Accent.
