Fireplace Accents Crackle With Style
With the holidays quickly approaching, there's nothing that signals the coming of family and friends like the crackle and warmth of a beautiful fire in the fireplace. It's time to prepare your fireplace with style and charm. Mantels and screens are the perfect way to add that accent to your fireplace.
There is nothing more elegant than the right mantle to showcase your photos, collectibles or keepsakes above your fireplace. One of these is the
Maxwell Mantle, which comes in many finishes. From Gold Leaf to Black to Weathered Bisque, you shouldn't have a problem finding the right accent color for your fireplace.
Another classic solid look you can't go wrong with is the
Distressed Black Mantle. This distressed three piece black mantle harkens back to an age when the fireplace was the centerpiece of the living room. One can easily imagine stocking hanging from this classic mantle this holiday season.
Whether or not you light the fireplace this holiday season, you will love the many different Fire Screens to add that perfect accent to your fireplace. One such is the
Canterbury Fire Screen which is available in many beautiful finishes, such as Crabapple and Verdi Black.
For a Gothic touch, try the
Gothic Arch Fire Screen. Many cathedrals in Europe in the Middle Ages used the Gothic arch to add a formal elegance to their architectural design. You too can add those same touches with the variety provided by such finishes from Creme to
Raspberry.
All of the finishes available are handcrafted, which means great care and love was put into each of these fireplace accents. Every mantle and fire screen are treated and labored over as if each was a great work of art. This holiday season, your fireplace deserves the style that these accents will add to your home.

Columns- Ancient Architecture In Modern Times
When you see a column in architecture you are immediately transported through time. There are several different types of columns to suit all your decorating needs. Any one will create texture and strength to your environment.
There are columns that are fluted on the sides, meaning they have a ribbed quality to them, like the
Flower Column. There are smooth columns such as the Egyptian Column. There are also columns with twisted spiral edging such as
Salomonic columns. The Salomonic column design is supposedly to have come from Solomon's Temple in Jeresuleum.
Imagine a
Spanish Column placed on your patio or in your garden with ivy growing up it. This would give your outdoor space a very Mediterranean feel. You could place a column in the yard near a pond to invoke an oasis feel.
Perhaps you could use a
Short Column in your living room as end tables. Maybe frame your fireplace with a set of Feather Columns. Columns can be placed as room dividers in large open spaces to give a feeling of separation with style.
The front porch is also a great place to set a column. Give your home a dramatic entryway with Flower Columns placed along your front porch. A Leaves Column would look dramatic framing your front door. Columns can be made from many different materials. Outdoor columns are usually made from a lightweight stone. However, columns can be made from wood or plaster as well.
The first columns ever built were usually constructed from a giant monolithic piece of stone. As construction practices were perfected over time, columns would be put together in pieces. The major components of a column are the shaft, cap and base.
No matter which column you choose as a decorating accent, it is sure to draw attention and inspire beauty.

Adorn Your Living Spaces with Architectural Fragments
Architectural Fragments give your living space that little something extra. Architectural Fragments can enhance the themes you have established or they can create a new theme all on their own. To create that lost empire feel, place an Architectural Fragment on the wall such as the Lyre Player or Sumerian Archer. To enhance a Medieval flavor, place an Architectural Fragment of a Moorish Gate or a Tracery Fragment.
You can create height with Architectural Fragments too. The French Gate Fragments allow you to repeat the center piece as many times as you would like in order to go as vertical as needed. Another option for Architectural Fragments is to repeat pieces such as French Baroque which can actually be used as a ledge. Petite Grapes can also be repeated in order to create a building motif.
Architectural Fragments come in many finishes to suit your decorating tastes. Several of them are rated for outdoor placement as well. Some examples of the finishes available are Birchwood, Clay, Coffee, Cordwood, Ebony, English Walnut, Etruscan Bronze, French Medley, Gold Copper, Gold Copper Verde, Mission Pewter, Rust, Sandstone and Whitestone. Of those finishes, three are not outdoor rated. They are English Walnut, Estuscan Bronze and French Medley.
Can't decide on a finish? Order a Sample Finish Set and use them to coordinate your decorating. This way you can try before you buy. Once you return the samples, the cost of the samples will be refunded back to your credit card.
Every single finish is handcrafted. Therefore each piece you get will be unique, just like any other great work of art. You will not have any two that are alike, even if they are ordered in the same design and finish. The Architectural Fragments are not guaranteed against rust either. Although, if you were to put your piece outside a little rust just might creatively enhance your
Architectural Fragment.

Dress up the Ceiling with Ceiling Medallions
By adding decorative
ceiling medallions, a room is easily reinvented. The room is easily transformed from ordinary to elegantly extraordinary. Ceiling medallions are one of the most desirable architectural accents that you can add to your home, for the price. Ceiling medallions can be used to showcase a chandelier, or to enhance a ceiling fan. They can also be used to enrich a regular light fixture and liven up a plain ordinary ceiling.
Ceiling medallions can be used to complement crown moulding, adding a tasteful touch of architecture. Medallions don't necessarily have to be used individually. Experiment and try using a row of smaller ceiling medallions in a long, narrow room or hall. Be ready for a big architectural impact!
Modern Ceiling medallions are much lighter now and this helps to make installation a snap! This is most certainly a project you can do yourself, although it's always nice to have someone to hand things to you while you are up on the ladder.
Ceiling medallions come in ornate and simple styles. For example, the Rotunda Ceiling Medallion is pure simplicity. Yet, it enhances any ceiling. If your ceiling needs more dressing up, you can install the more intricate design of the Grecian Leaves Ceiling Medallion or the Stephanie Medallion.
Ceiling medallions are not necessarily round either. It is very easy to add unique architectural interest to your room with an unusual shape such as the Thomas Arnett Ceiling Medallion, Raleigh Medallion or even a cross shape such as Renaissance Revival Ceiling Medallion.
You do not have to have a historical home to be able to pull off installing a
ceiling medallion. There is a style of ceiling medallion that will fit into any architectural style of home and enhance your living spaces.
