Go Bistro!
A bistro is a small informal restaurant that also serves wine. You can turn your dining area into a cozy little bistro-like nook with just a few changes.
Bistros originated on the coast of France and quickly spread to Paris. A bistro became a place to gather with friends, drink wine and eat lightly while enjoying rousing conversations. You can add touches of French designs around your room and incorporate it into a bistro look that your friends and family will enjoy gathering in. Light touches with a decidedly French taste include wall clocks, signs, use
old French postcards decoratively displayed on the walls and add in a fun old bistro table with a French table cloth.
Plan a fun night with your friends and have a feast of bistro favorites. Start off with amuse-bouche (appetizers). Seafood dishes such as crab cakes, martini prawns, or even oysters on the half shell are great choices. Remember, bistro food is meant to be fast and easy to prepare and casual, no slaving for hours for a formal meal with friends on a bistro night. Make the main course something easy and filling such as Steak au Poivre Vert which is steak with fresh green peppercorn sauce. Have lots of crusty bread and red and white table wines to keep everyone's palate whetted. Make dessert a light and delicious parfait or chocolate mousse.
Even if it is for just one night, turn your dining room into a bistro and enjoy a fun gathering with your favorite group of family and friends - bon appetite!
