Daybeds - Purely Functional Beauty
The daybed was once something that was relegated to the guest room and in many homes wound up holding extra clothes, the laundry basket and things no one else wanted to use in the rest of the house.
When company was coming, this room was hurriedly cleaned and the day bed was used for guests. Now, the daybed is becoming the bed of choice in many rooms of teenagers and dorm rooms. In both a teenager's room and a dorm room, space is precious.
A daybed can do dual duty as both a place to sit and study or talk with friends as well as a place to sleep at night. You can get a daybed in nearly any style to match any decor. If you like classic Victorian designs, there is a daybed made for just that style.
A fun make of daybed is the Leaf Scroll Daybed. This daybed is almost a throwback to the chaise lounge styles of the 1940s with it's raised side rails on one end and very low on the other. It comes in a number of great texture options from crackled to distressed to bronzed and it will literally fit into any decor.
If you're looking to get your teenager a functional item for their room that will allow them to have more space or you're decorating a dorm room and finding that space is tight, look at adding a daybed and make the best use of your space.
