Add French Country Elements to Your Decor

When you're thinking design styles, trying to get the decorating elements straight can seem a huge task. Break it down and it's easy.

Take French Country for example. This widely used style is an easy one to implement using items from Accent Architecturals. One decorating key for achieving the French Country look is in the word most widely used to describe this style: rustic. Shorten that to "rust" and you have a widely used element in this decorating scheme. Think French farmland, think implements of farming. Rusted metal and distressed wood items lend an old world "used" charm that brings a sense of coziness to your room. Simple white tables such as the French Country Table with it's simple top and scrollwork on the sides is a quiet addition that will lend a cozy elegance to your French Country room.

Some of the colors used in French Country are bright red and burnt rusty reds, sunshine yellows and lavenders. Along with grassy greens and blues in sky tones. A functional piece that will chime right in with your French Country decor scheme is a French Country Clock. With it's rustic tones it will blend seamlessly with your design.

The creative use of mirrors can expand a small space. The French Farmhouse Mirror with his muted tones is a great way to quietly make your room seem bigger with a mirror placed strategically on each wall around the room.

Another great addition is the French Post Card Transfers that are in old black antique-look frames. With the soft elegant colors used in most of French Country decor, adding in small elements in bold blacks or gray tones will help to set off your other colors.

If you're looking to update a room in your home, change your decor to French Country and watch your room turn into a cozy nook you'll want to spend a lot of time in.
