Kitchen Beautiful

Have you been noticing that there are many things about your kitchen that you wish that you could change? Well, depending on the amount of things that you want to change, the best thing to do is take on any renovations one at a time. This way, you can make a smooth transition without having too much clutter in the room all at one time. Also, it is a nice way to get things done where you can pay as you go without having to have a huge budget up front.

Take a look and see if you might want to do an upgrade with your wall covering in the kitchen. You might find that a fresh coat of paint or some new and unique wallpaper will do the trick. At the same time, you might want to double check the placement of all of your small appliances to see if you can arrange them in a manner that allows the feeling of the room to flow better. Making some upgrades to your storage options is another fantastic idea when it comes to beautifying your kitchen.

Before you even think of finishing, a perfect idea would be to look to the area behind your sink and around your counter tops. Adding a brand new pressed tin back splash can add both amazing looks as well as a good deal of function to your kitchen. The right back splash can be beautiful and also work to ward off any wet messes and mold from seeping into your drywall.

Give the Gift of Year Round Entertainment

If you've been tearing your hair out trying to come up with a gift that is functional and unique for a special someone on your holiday list, you can't go wrong with a bird feeder.

Bird feeders not only perform a necessary function of providing food -especially during the winter months when food can be scarce; they will attract some of nature's most beautiful feathered beings into the yard the shows the birds put on are second to none. All family members, even the furry ones, will get a real kick out of watching the antics that go on around the bird feeder. There will twittering arguments over who has the right to the best seat at the bird feeder and it's a real treat to see a bright red cardinal against a stark white, snowy backdrop.

The Bowling Green Feeder is a great gift that will attract bright, beautiful birds to the yard! This charming bird feeder has the look to an old timey country barn. It is made with great attention to detail and even has little shuttered windows. It can be placed on a post, sat on a deck railing or it is easy to hang for the birds to enjoy.

Unlike many bird feeders, this bird feeder is not treated with anti-aging chemicals that can be toxic for birds. This bird feeder will age over time if it is exposed to the elements, but expect to get many, many years of service from it. The dimensions of the feeder are 12"w x 7"d x 11"h and it finished in an antique wood look.

If you need a fun gift that will give enjoyment throughout the year, consider the joy in a bird feeder - it's a gift the entire family can have fun with.

Great Gifts for the Hard to Buy For

We all have at least one person on our list that is darned near impossible to buy for. They don't really ever want anything and if they do want something, chances are they will buy it themselves.

If you ask them what they'd like for the holidays, if you get a straight answer it will be something along lines of, "Oh don't get me anything" or "Well, you couldn't know my tastes"; but with a little clever spy work, you can get them a great gift that they can appreciate and use.

Find out what their basic colors in their decor are, you can get them something nice for the home. You can either find out through a reliable friend or pay a surprise visit and drop off some cookies for the holidays or other reason for a quickie hello and goodbye visit.

Once you know a couple of basic colors in their interior, you're set. You can get them a myriad of fun additions to their room. If they are the sort of person that requires function with an item, a pair of bookends or a beautiful vase will do double duty of holding items as well as adding an air of elegance to the room.

If seeing inside the house isn't an option, consider a gift for their garden area. A beautiful small garden statue to accent a favorite plant or even a hanging artwork such as a cross or medallion for the garden area will make an elegant statement.

You might have to be a little bit sneaky but you can get the perfect gift for your hard to buy for person with just a little bit of effort on your part and you'll have them wondering how on earth you knew what to get them!

Make it a French Country Kitchen

Admit it, you love the French Country look. It's casual and classy and if you've ever been to France, it's like having a little bit of the beautiful country in your own home.

If you have been admiring the decorating style but haven't done a room of your own, it's easy to bring the feel of French Country into your home. The elements of the French Country are easy to get. Think country and think rustic. The colors of French Country are rust, off whites, beiges and light grass greens. Robin's egg blues and light browns are also part of the look.

If you're doing a kitchen in the French Country style, keep the items simple. Simple tables and if you need a kitchen island as an extra prep area, opt for the sleek styling of a butcher block table. Other elements will be simple window treatments done in soft, light colors.

Old implements of the past that had a steady place in the kitchens of yore such as ice tongs, hooks and cast iron skillets make great decorations, particularly if they are a little rusted. Old tin panels used on the ceilings is another away to give your room a French Country kiss.

A fun element you can add to your decor is a bistro clock. You can get a replica for a fraction of the cost of an original and it will be authentically reproduced right down to the aged brass clock rings, corners, and key hooks.
